Crown and Slope

A gravel driveway should not be perfectly flat.  Proper crown and slope are critical for moving water away from the driving surface.

Without proper shaping:

• water sits on the surface
• potholes develop
• soft spots form
• washouts become more likely
• gravel migrates
• rutting increases

Every property is different, which means every driveway requires a different approach depending on:

• elevation
• runoff patterns
• surrounding terrain
• existing drainage
• traffic patterns
• material condition

The goal is controlled water movement.
